Congratulations to DeSimone lab member, Tojan Rahhal, who has been inducted into the UNC-Chapel Hill chapter of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society; the Order of the Golden Fleece, UNC’s highest and oldest honor society; and the Frank Porter Graham Graduate and Professional Student Honor Society, which recognizes outstanding service provided to the University and community. In addition to demonstrating outstanding scholarship, Rahhal has exhibited a tremendous commitment to service and leadership on campus as a graduate student. She currently serves as Chair of UNC’s Women in Science group and is also part of the founding group that started Science in the Stacks, an outreach program for children that enables hands-on science related activities at the local library. In March 2016, Rahhal also successfully defended her dissertation focused on the pulmonary delivery of therapeutics/biologics. She will be formally presented with her Pharmaceutical Sciences doctoral degree during UNC’s graduation ceremonies in May.
